We organise a Festivals for Development Conference for governmental institutions and local festivals organisers in Batumi, Ajara on 14 March 2018 toraise awareness about the importance and contribution of festivals in the cultural and economic development and their role in the development of creative and cultural industries.
We would like to present the successful UK experience of working together with other festivals in order to jointly address the issues related to fund-raising, audience development, information provision, spreading success stories, working out joint strategy when talking to potential sponsors. We hope to involve Tourism Department and Ministry of Finance and Economics of Ajara Autonomous Republic.
Key personalities of the UK festivals will present the best cases and innovative models of collaboration between the British Festivals (Edinburgh Festivals, Fringe, Brighton Festival, Unlimited, Gloucester, etc).
In partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara in Georgia, we organise the professional development project aimed at the improvement of the festivals management in Ajara, Georgia. Representatives of FEI - Festivals and Events International lead trainings on the how to plan and organise festivals as well as how to develop a festival's marketing plan.
The training programme was created on the basis of the research, workshops and face to face meetings with the representatives of the festival sector in Ajara carried out by Nick Dodds, the expert from the UK. The research identified existing situation, achievements and challenges. The training participants will have an opportunity to explore the experiences, achievements and challenges of the UK festivals, make comparisons with the Georgian methods of festival management, share their achievementsto the trainers from the UK and one another and absorb whatever is useful from UK experience.
