The Exploratory Action Research manual was created as part of the British Council’s Exploratory Action Research (EAR) project. The Manual is intended as a professional practical resource for teachers to reflect on their everyday practice, better understand the real and context-specific challenges they face in teaching, learning and classroom management and make informed decisions that can meaningfully contribute to their students’ developmental priorities.
Most examples and research reports included in this manual address issues relevant to teachers in the Georgian educational context including student motivation and engagement, reading comprehension, homework practices, formative assessment, collaborative learning and the challenges students face in understanding tasks and instructions. They also examine strategies for supporting participation, improving comprehension, and creating more engaging learning environments. The examples represent teachers working across different subjects and grade levels in various regions of Georgia illustrating the diversity of contexts in which exploratory action research has been implemented.
